Transportation to and from the school, workshops, and retirement is available to any student or adult enrolled in day programs provided by the CCBDD. Consisting of over 25 buses and 45 other vehicles, the Transportation Department fleet travels over 388,000 miles per year, as it provides pickup and drop off services to the passengers throughout Columbiana County. All CCBDD buses are equipped with hydraulic wheelchair lifts to accommodate over 40 passengers who use wheelchairs.

All drivers must hold a Commercial Driver’s License and Bus Drivers Certificate, and all drivers and aides must maintain CPR and First Aid Certification along with other training.

The safety and comfort of CCBDD passengers are top priorities of the Transportation Department. Many new buses are equipped with air conditioning, wider aisles and air ride suspension systems.

Each bus is equipped with a two-way radio. The radios allow bus drivers and dispatcher instant contact in case of emergency, and the radios ensure accurate and timely service to all riders.

Each bus is Board-owned, and maintenance is performed at the Board’s bus maintenance facility located on State Route 45 in Lisbon, Ohio.
